It doesn’t matter how these pigs died, whether it be illness, or because they were male, or even because they were born dead or dying. What matters here is that this is the level of waste we produce. First off, we regard animals as things and we abuse them their whole lives in the name of flavor. Second, this is not a sustainable product, and even if it were, this is an image of how much one farm wastes in one individual case, whether this was a week worth of young pigs, or a day’s worth, ALL this food is simply THROWN AWAY in a world where 1 in 7 people are underfed if not starving and or homeless entirely.

Corporations invested money into these pigs, their housing, their food, the farms that grew their food, the farms that raised the pigs, and even their disposal, and they even go as far as to subsidize the meat to the point that it is affordable for people in the United States. The reason they are willing to invest so much in unsustainable food and yet throw mass amounts of it away, as shown above, rather than give it away to feed the hungry or starving people is because they gain no money back from it. Simple as that. There is absolutely no other reason behind it.

I’m a vegan because I’m not willing to be part of any of this, I want no part in this level of waste and destruction of animals, the environment, our only fresh water supply, our own health, and our own species… all for the sake of the corporations behind this - and even for them it is only giving the illusion of being in their favor. I’m a organic-food-only vegan because even if I can’t make a difference I don’t have to be part of the problem.
