Monster in the Girl Mask
Vegan note #50 - I’ve gotten myself addicted to homemade smoothies

Vegan smoothies are the best, but they are even better homemade!

I’ve had a lot more energy than normal since drinking these, maybe it’s related, maybe not, regardless, they are delicious!

Here’s my recipe:

frozen organic blackberries (price per serving = $1.50-$1.65)

fresh organic spinach (price per serving = $.50-$1.00)

organic raspberry juice/syrup (price per serving = $.20-$.50)

fresh coconut milk/cold coffee (depending on time of day or how awake you want to be) (price per serving for either option = $1.00)

(Total average cost per smoothie = $3.20-$4.15)

Sometimes I add my daily vitamins to this, but not often.

I’ve been trying to replace a meal a day with these, it’s actually been easier than it sounds.

Vegan note #49 “I can’t be vegan because of allergies”

For those who think vegan allergies are valid reasons for not going vegan, here is a list of the vegan food allergies I have that I’m aware of:

Extremely allergic: Peach, kiwi.

Mild allergic reaction in large or concentrated amounts: Cranberry, pomegranate, nutmeg, pineapple.

Mildly allergic: Mango, champagne mango, starfruit, dragon fruit, cashew, processed potato, strawberry, nectarine, apricot.

Sure, none of them are staples, but my mom has a soy allergy and another family member has a wheat allergy, neither of them are 100% vegan, but they actually try to keep vegan food the main part of their diets.

Vegan note #48
Me - "*non-vegan* What do I eat besides animal products?!"
Me - "*goes vegan* What do I eat besides carbs?!"
I tried this recently, it is STUNNING. I’m not a raw-vegan but I really wish I was!
I tried both this and the brand’s kale, cucumber, romaine, etc. blend. It is raw, vegan, some 6 pounds of cool pressed fresh, organic plants per bottle, all kinds of good bacteria, vitamins, and flora, and so delicious that it is ACTUALLY worth the $8-10 per bottle. It’s heavenly, it really is, to the extent that I made the little cashew milk bottle last 2 days. Luckily I had a buy-one-get-one-free coupon, and it was on sale.
Also, if you live in NYC, you can save money and pick it up locally.
This stuff is so good you should ask for it for your birthday!

Vegan note #47

Being friends with non-vegans seems extremely underrated. I encourage it, it’s the best way I’ve found to score free food they wont use. Just this week a friend of my bf gave us 10 jars of lentils, another friend gave us some spicy orzo soup, and another gave me a small carton of blue berries. Fucking delicious! <3

Random vegan recipe post

Making Indian foods for dinner. A mix of dishes, some red lentils, some basmati rice, madras sauce, peanut butter, cocoanut milk, paprika, anise, garlic, fennel, grape seed and ginger oil, and some na’an bread with vegan butter. <3

It’s not a secret that these products are toxic, for one it says so on the bottle, and two, most all of these, by all major brands were, or still are, tested on animals. If that weren’t enough, some of these products include dead animal parts, like milk, skin oil, or placenta, but it’s the artificial chemical compounds you’ll have to worry most about, those are the ones that will absolutely ruin your body’s pH and even cause cancer and birth defects.
A personal run down on this list for me is the following:
Shampoo - Desert Essence, an 100% plant based, chemical free, minimally processed shampoo made in wind-powered factories.
Eyeshadow - A chemical free, artificial dye free mineral eye shadow.
Lipstick - A chemical free, artificial dye free, organic bees wax lipstick.
Nail varnish/polish - I do use brand names of these, but I probably only use them 3 times a year at best.
Fake tan - I don’t use this at all, both spray tans and fake tans can be a health hazard, stick to naturally tanning and get vitamins from the sun.
Hairspray - I don’t use hair spray ever, haven’t since elementary school when my mom would do my hair for me, I never plan to use it either.
Deodorant - I don’t use deodorant either, just an all-natural salt bar if that, I stopped having regular body odor when I went vegan.
Foundation - Unfortunately this is the one thing on my personal list that I know it dangerous. I use Covergirl foundation just for under my eyes, I have seriously noticeable dark under eyes no matter what I do, I just have deep eye sockets and I’ve tried everything else, so I’m very cautious with it and keep it to a minimum and don’t even use it on my face otherwise.
Perfume - I only use perfumes when I’m going out somewhere really nice, sparsely and rarely, they are brand named ones, but not the cheap ones at least, I poured those all down the drain after a cancer scare I had years ago.
Body Lotion - Never, none at all of any brand.

Reblogging to have this GREAT info on my dash!

We grow like half these in our backyard. We have a frikin farm back there

wot? man, yes. I will be doing this. Endless supply of sweet potatoes and pumpkins? All I need to see is if I can do this for Kale. Anybody know?

Delicious! I already do this with my peppers, I need to try all of these! Well, the ones that can be done in an apartment anyways. I wonder if the pineapple method works with mini-pineapples.

I honestly don’t understand how people can fight against vegans…

You do realize that fighting against vegans means you’re fighting FOR animal cruelty… Right?

i would say fighting against veganism is fighting for animal cruelty

fighting against some vegans is understandable though

cuz some vegans are jerks

^

Yeah, it’s true that some vegans hate people. If you can’t argue “compassion” without selective hate, well… you’re not compassionate, you’re a dietary vegan, not a lifestyle vegan. It’s not about perfection, it’s about effort and intent. Same goes for people who claim to fight for the ethical side human social issues, like racism, homophobia and sexism, but do so by hate, default disrespect, verbal trashing and wishing revenge. If you want revenge, you’re not fighting for ethics, you might not be for institutionalized racism/sexism/homophobia, but you’re certainly not a racialist, feminist or ally of any kind.

Tea on a Raw Food Diet

raw-vegan:

You can let your tea soak overnight (sun tea) in the fridge or on the windowsill. Some teas are toasted but if you buy herbs you can know they are dehydrated (mountain rose is a great online shop). If you choose to boil your water for tea, make sure it is below 115 degrees. Thank you fitnessteaandharmony and radicalmadre for the tips! (ノ◐ヮ◑)ノ*:・゚✧

I’m not a raw-vegan but this sounds really delicious! Makes me want to buy some bulk teas. <3

Makes me wonder how good I’ll feel in 10 years, I feel this good already.
I love when people sarcastically ask me “How’s that working for you?” upon learning I’m vegan, I always say, “Well I’m 26 and have more energy than I did when I was 15, you?”
